Have you checked in on a friend today? Yourself?
We're all on this journey together. In the last three years, most of us have been touched by grief - from losing a family member, a pet, to even a relationship. It could be a divorce or a close friend. Could anything have made it easier?
Care Packages... This was Lilly's way of reaching out to those who were sad, depressed, anxious, grieving, or just having a tough day. She would go out of her way and make a basket of the person's favourite things. Candy, junk food, sodas, socks, Starbucks cards, lip balm, scented hand sanitizer, etc... Anything that would bring comfort and a smile on the face of that person. She'd write an affirmation and leave the care package on their doorstep. Giving them the space they needed.
Care packages let the person know that they are on your mind and that you wanted to do something to brighten up their day. There doesn't have to be an occasion to reach out to someone. A care package is a pleasant surprise. The important thing here is that all it takes is a phone call, a smile, a way of reaching out to let the person suffering know that they are not alone. They are loved and they are not alone.
We are so caught up in our daily lives that we don't always reach out to those in need. I know - I'm guilty of this. Touching base with those we care for is a great way of spreading love and kindness. You reaching out could make the world of difference for someone going through a tough time.
So what are you waiting for? Pick up that phone, write that text, send that email, drop off that care package....
