Text from a Family: “The Puri‘s, they are ‘That Family’ whose daughter died from drugs. You are not to hang out with ‘That Family’”
YES - WE ARE THAT FAMILY…..
That Family who
- love a child lost to mental illness and addiction
- supported their child through everything till her ‘physical end’
- found their child stone cold on a clear sunny Saturday morning
- who did everything in their power to ’save’ their child
- who loves and supports each other no matter what
It’s absolutely insane how people are still talking about a family who have lost a loved one. Sadly, this has been the case with our family recently. The pain of losing a loved one is hard as it is. Learning to live life as if everything is ‘normal’ is hard knowing things will never ever be ‘normal again’.
My first and last thoughts everyday are about Lilly. There is not a day that goes by where I don’t think about Lilly, what happened, what I should have, could have, and didn’t do. If I could only turn back time…..
Mental illness and addiction are real health issues and something that should not be shoved under the rug. The struggles are real for both the individual and their loved ones. The journey is hard. What makes it unbelievable is losing your loved one despite all your and their efforts.
To all you educated ignorant people out there - ‘EDUCATE YOURSELVES’!!!! Mental illness and addiction are ‘real’. It doesn’t happen because someone is ‘That Family’. It’s a disease. A horrible heartbreaking disease that ends up not sparing anyone in ’That Family’.
Just because it hasn’t hit home doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist.
Hugs to you! Cannot believe you are still hearing such things. Please ignore them and don’t let any negativity creep into your beautiful life or your loving family! Love & prayers always ❤️ - Anita
